Yield drag with flat rate application of herbicide

 

The maps below were created with a PF 3000, a Raven 450,a Global Positioning System (GPS) and Geographic Information System (GIS). Precision farm technology uses GPS and GIS to gather data that can help you choose a better performing application method. The first map represent soil types. The second represents corn yields gathered with a PF3000 yield monitor. The third overlays the soil types with the yield map which shows the yield drag from soil applied soybean herbicide from the season before. The fourth is like the third except the yellow soil type was located on corn on corn ground and shows no herbicide yield drag. The yield difference in this case is 12 bu/acre at $ 2/bu, we are looking at a $ 24/acre revenue loss. $ 24 x 1000 acres = $ 24,000 annual revenue loss.
